Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk Agreement

Grimpeurs Cycling Club (GCC) Manotick Time Trial

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT, YOU WILL WAIVE CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE.

This is a binding legal agreement. Clarify any questions before signing.

1. Event Information

Event: Manotick Time Trial
Organizer: Grimpeurs Cycling Club (GCC)
Location: Manotick, Ottawa, Ontario
Date: May 31, 2026

2. Acknowledgment of Risks

I acknowledge that cycling events involve inherent risks including but not limited to:

  • Riding on public roads open to traffic

  • Collisions with vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, animals, or fixed objects

  • Road hazards such as potholes, gravel, uneven pavement, or debris

  • Weather conditions including rain, heat, wind, or cold

  • Mechanical failure of bicycles or equipment

  • Physical exertion that may lead to injury, illness, or fatigue

I understand that participation may result in serious injury, disability, or death.

3. Assumption of Risk

I voluntarily accept all risks associated with participating in the Manotick Time Trial and confirm that I am physically fit to participate.

4. Release of Liability

In consideration for being permitted to participate, I hereby release and discharge:

  • Grimpeurs Cycling Club (GCC)

  • Event organizers

  • Volunteers

  • Sponsors

  • Property owners

  • Any associated representatives

from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of my participation in the event, including those caused by negligence.

5. Traffic Laws

I understand that the event takes place on public roads that remain open to traffic.

I agree to:

  • Obey all traffic laws

  • Ride on the right side of the road

  • Avoid drafting other riders

  • Follow instructions from volunteers and organizers

6. Safety Equipment

I confirm that:

  • Wearing a cycling helmet is mandatory

  • My bicycle is in safe working condition

  • I will use appropriate lights or safety equipment if required

7. Medical Authorization

I authorize event organizers or emergency personnel to provide medical assistance if necessary. I accept full responsibility for any related costs.

8. Photography and Media

I grant GCC permission to use photographs, videos, or media taken during the event for promotional purposes without compensation.

9. Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario.

10. Acknowledgment

By signing, I confirm that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to this waiver.
